Winter Garden Bed C

Colorful stems are featured on several plants of Bed C shown here in early winter. Both the yellow twig dogwood (Cornus stolonifera 'Flaviramea') and the silvery Rubus biflorus produce the most colorful stems if they are cut to the ground each year in early spring to promote new growth. The Ophiopogon with its nearly black grass-like foliage provides a nice contrast to the yellow twig dogwood. The wintersweet (Chimonanthus) displays fragrant light yellow flowers with reddish-brown centers during the heart of winter.
