Winter Garden Bed H

The photo with the sign shows the back of Bed H and the wider shot gives a view of the front. Dominating this bed, especially in the summer time, is a grand specimen of the American elm (Ulmus americana) shown with the moss-covered trunk. On the west side are some very fragrant daphnes (Daphne bodnantense 'Dawn' and Daphne mezereum) which bloom for several months during the winter. Rub the leaf in the summer time for an interesting fragrance. There are also several rhododendrons providing evergreen foliage throughout the year and colorful flowers in late winter.
