Scholarship Increase Approved - The board also approved
increasing the freshmen level WPPF scholarship award to 50% of
tuition for the academic year 2009-10. This will result in a 20%
increase over the current award of $3,000, and will be prorated
for the sophomore, junior, senior and fifth year ChemE awards.
“5 by 10” - Committee reports show good
progress toward the five year goals, and the Development
Committee established a new capital campaign to grow the
endowment base to $5 million by June 30, 2010.
The growth is needed to offset the increased student population
and increased scholarship award.
More visibility for PSE and WPPF - The newly
developed recruiting DVD was shown during the
business luncheon and received positive reviews. You may view

Initiative - During the business luncheon, Provost Phyllis Wise
spoke to the membership about the University’s initiative to
establish the College of the Environment, a college which would
combine several schools and colleges to form a world-class
interdisciplinary college focused on current and future
environmental studies. Provost Wise reviewed the purpose, status
and plans. On June 12th the UW Board of Regents voted to create
the new college and authorized a one year of study to determine
the mission, vision and structure. Ultimately, it will be up to
the faculty of the College of Forest Resources whether they will
join the new college. |
