Washington Pulp and Paper Foundation

Wollenberg Paper and Bioresource Science Laboratory

The Wollenberg Foundation has made a transformational gift to the Bioresource Science and Engineering program, our students and the Washington Pulp and Paper Foundation in recognition of the Foundation's 50th anniversary. This generous gift of $500,000 will be memorialized by the naming of the program's pilot laboratory the "Wollenberg Paper and Bioresource Science Laboratory." The gift will add to the existing R.P. Wollenberg Endowment and significantly increase scholarship support for Bioresource Science and Engineering students.

50th Anniversary Meeting & Banquet

It's here. It's the 50th. We are in the thick of making the Foundation's golden anniversary celebration a memorable event! The Foundation invites all our alumni, friends, member representatives, faculty, staff and students to register and attend the upcoming 50th Anniversary Annual Meeting & Banquet. Online registration is available from March 16 until May 10. Check out all the details on our info flyer and register online. Our evening venue is the beautiful Intellectual House's Gathering Hall. Also new this year is the option to purchase a table of 10 at the banquet (at a discounted rate). Why not put together a table of your classmates? It's a great opportunity to catch up and support the Foundation. Company representatives might consider putting together a table for all of your firm's UW grads. This will be a grand celebration so not only plan to attend, but bring a guest - they won't be disappointed. See you on the 24th.

WPPF Update: January 2018

Mike's quarterly update has a couple quick updates on the kick off of this new year and new quarter...and also a couple reminders for all our members, alumni and friends!

What a Day!

What a Day! More than 50 students, alumni, members and friends of the Foundation enjoyed a day of great weather, good food and exceptional camaraderie. The auction, raffle and lapel pin sale raised more than $2,465 for our scholarship program, but the best part was the opportunity to introduce several new students to their fellow BSE students. Once again the event couldn't have been carried off without the help of several friends who have pitched in every year - Gene and Anna Fioretti, Jerry and Molly Schaaf, Billye Smith, Julie Antich and, of course, Juliet. Click here to enjoy pictures from the event (also posted on the Foundation website’s Photo Gallery). If you attended, I am certain you can find yourself. If you couldn't make the event, see who did! - Mike Roberts

Valuing our Members

The Foundation has been successful in our mission over the last 50 years largely because of the support of our member companies and friends of the Foundation. One of the things we often forget to do is thank other members for their support when we do business. When a business relationship involves a member, do you take a minute to say thank you for supporting the Foundation? When a company approaches you with a proposal to do business, do you ask "Are you a member of the Washington Pulp and Paper Foundation?" and then say "We consider membership an important part of the future of our industry." If you know of a firm that would benefit from Foundation membership, let me know. Take a minute and look over our membership poster so you can say "thanks" to the firms and folks who support our mission. - Mike Roberts

2017 Annual Meeting and Banquet

We enjoyed record attendance and possibly the best time ever. The weather was great and so was the fellowship. This year was especially noteworthy: A new logo for the Foundation was unveiled, and we kicked off the celebration of the Foundation's 50th anniversary. Here is a link to pictures from the day - enjoy. Next year's celebration will be even bigger, so put May 24, 2018, on your calendar. We welcome any suggestions you have to make our 50th a very special year. Have an idea? Send us a note anytime to wppf@uw.edu!
