Located in Washington state on the Wind River Experimental Forest within the Gifford Pinchot Nation Forest the Wind River Field Station participates in several environmental monitoring networks while incorporating numerous research projects and providing educational and outreach opportunities for students and professionals in environmental science and forest sciences.

Formerly the Wind River Canopy Crane Research Facility, the Wind River Field Station operates from an agreement among the University of Washington, the Pacific Northwest Research Station, and the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
