Be aware that some research activities on the Wind River Experimental Forest,
the Thornton T. Munger RNA, or the Gifford Pinchot National Forest may require
a permit.
Please address the following points in your proposal (separate from
your proposal to any funding agency):
Attention: please schedule your above ground work (i.e., tree climbing,
tower and ladders) when the WRCCRF staff is on site.
This will increase your safety and in the event of a accident promote a quicker
response and rescue.

4. Nature of the proposed project (what do you propose to do)?

5. What specific use to
expect/want to make of the crane?
a. number of days of use
b. hours per day
c. time of day
d. total # of hours of crane use during the project.
6. Are funds likely to be
available to pay operational costs ($182 per hour) of the crane; If not what
attempts have been made to secure funding?
7. What other facilities
at the canopy site would be required?
a. meteorological or structural
data bases
b. computers
c. space for sample processing
d. living space
8. What impacts will your
research have on the site? For example, do you expect to:
a. destructively sample
vegetation?
b. collect and remove organisms?
c. manipulate some aspect of the canopy?
d. mark individuals?
e. place platforms or equipment in canopy, etc.?
f. do you intend to use non-native species in your research? If so please elaborate
on methods.
g. will your research also include work on the Wind River Experimental Forest?
9. Are you willing to participate
in an annual meeting of scientists utilizing the site?
