About the Sociology Writing Center

The Sociology Writing Center is geared toward students who would like feedback on drafts of their papers. Our overarching goal is to help students improve the organization, the quality, and the clarity of their written arguments. Accordingly, we will focus on the composition of papers more than substantive aspects. While the primary mission is to help students improve material they have already written, we also can help students prepare outlines or assist with drafting thesis statements. Students who are having difficulty understanding the material they are writing about should speak to their TAs before arriving at the Writing Center.

Please note that the Writing Center is not designed to provide a proofreading service and assistance is not guaranteed to result in a perfect paper - or a perfect grade. Instead, we help students improve their writing through feedback and critical analysis of their own work. If you think you would benefit from this type of service, please come see us!

The Sociology Writing Center aims to provide support to students in sociology classes with a heavy writing component. Students enrolled in sociology courses are welcome to make an appointment or come to drop-in hours.
