DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATION PROCESS FOR U.S. APPLICANTS
Overseas research appointments are available to University of Washington faculty, postdoctoral fellows, health sciences students, laboratory technicians, and other health care professionals.
What Kind of Training is Provided?A. University of Washington Postdoctoral Fellows and Predoctoral Students
Post-doctoral fellows and predoctoral students may apply for support to conduct research overseas for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 24 months. Overseas research activities must be supervised by a University of Washington faculty member who will serve as the research advisor, and must be endorsed by the host institution.
Postdoctoral fellows and predoctoral students may apply to have the following expenses covered:
The IARTP does not provide support for field research costs (e.g., supplies, equipment, local salaries, etc.)
B. University of Washington Faculty
The IARTP will provide funding to enable University of Washington faculty to be involved in advanced research training activities conducted in-country. Appropriate activities include providing in-country advanced training, overseeing collaborative research involving current and/or former IARTP scholars, and recruiting candidates. Allowable costs include air travel and per diem costs, and occasionally salary, for up to 3 months.
What Are the Requirements for Application?Post-doctoral Fellows and Health Sciences Students
The following may be required of some applicants: (Please check with the IARTP program director to see if any of these are necessary in your case.)
University of Washington Faculty
Faculty members are requested to provide a brief description of the collaborative research activities at the overseas site, research and training objectives of the trip, proposed length of stay, and anticipated expenses (travel, per diem, etc.).
