‘Naturally Native’ creator to speak

Valerie Red-Horse, the writer, producer and co-director of the independent film “Naturally Native” will be speaking today at 7 p.m. at the old Architecture Building.

Red-Horse, who was brought to campus by the UW Women’s Center, turned to writing and producing in 1993 after an extensive acting career that included leading roles and appearances on “Santa Barbara”, “Anything But Love”, “The Dennis Miller Show”, “Unsolved Mysteries” and more.

“Naturally Native” is a film about three American Indian sisters who attempt to start their own business - an herbal-remedy cosmetics company. The groundbreaking film is the first financed by an American Indian tribal nation.

Red-Horse has been won the Eagle Spirit Award and was named Producer of the Year at the American Indian Film Festival.

Naturally Native opens at the Broadway Market Cinema on Friday. ¶
