Deadlines

Spring Tuition

Tuition bills were mailed March 24. If you have not received your tuition statement, visit the Student Accounts Office Web site at http://www.washington.edu, call Star at 548-7827 or the office 543-4695. The due date for spring quarter is April 14. Payments made after April 14 require a late payment fee. Failure to pay by May 17 will result in registration cancellation.

Regents Meeting Canceled

At the direction of William H. Gates, President of the Board of Regents, at the meeting of the Board on March 17, 2000 and with the concurrence of the members of the board, the regular meeting of the Board of Regents scheduled for April 21, 2000, is canceled

USER Project demonstrations

The USER Project is moving another step closer to elimination of the paper PAF. New fields and enhancements will be available to campus departments this month. A description of the new on-line capabilities and features can be found on the Web at http://www.washington.edu/admin/payroll/help/whatsnew.html.

The USER Project will present one hour demonstrations of these enhancements and new features at:

1 p.m. Friday, April 21, 316 South Campus Center

Hall of Fame Nominations Wanted

The HUB Hall of Fame Committee seeks nominations of currently enrolled students who have been involved in community service and student organizations for at least two years to recognize their service and contributions to the University and the community.

The award criteria are based on: campus and community activities with emphasis given to those who served in leadership positions, honors and awards, and education and career goals. You may nominate yourself. All nominations should include: name, address, phone number, e-mail, activities and a reason for nominating this person.

Recipients will be honored by having their names and organizations engraved on the HUB Hall of Fame Activities plaque located on the first floor of the HUB. For more information, contact Shannon Bailie at 543-2380 or sbailie@u.washington.edu. The Hall of Fame is sponsored by: Student Activities & Union Facilities. The deadline is April 14. Sound Transit Seeks Input
Sound Transit is working with Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro and Pierce Transit to improve express bus service for the region’s commuters. Sound Transit proposes to start five new express bus routes in 2000 and additional routes in 2001. These routes are the next phase of the new ST Express bus network approved by voters in 1996.

Student Inventors Wanted

The National Inventors Hall of Fame is looking for your students’ best work, and they’d like to give you $10,000 for it.

The Collegiate Inventors Competition, formerly the B.F. Goodrich Collegiate Inventors Program, is seeking applications. Each winning student - or student team - receives a $20,000 cash prize. Faculty advisors receive a $10,000 cash prize. The competition, open to all full-time college students and judged by distinguished scientists and inventors from across the country, awards up to six prizes each year. The deadline for applications is June 1.

In addition to cash prizes, winners and their advisors will travel to the induction ceremony of the National Inventors Hall of Fame on Sept. 8-9. During the weekend, winners will be honored and have the chance to learn from the world-renowned inventors who visit the Hall of Fame each year for the induction festivities.

Public Auction

Surplus property and equipment released by UW departments will be available for purchase by the general public Saturday, April 15, beginning at 10 a.m. The warehouse will be open for previewing Friday, April 14, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. For more information call 685-1573.
