ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES

Online English Language Courses
The UW English Language Programs (UWELP) is now offering quarterly online courses designed primarily for non-native speakers of English. Anyone who has e-mail and Internet access with Netscape or Internet Explorer versions 4 or higher may access these courses from around the world.

Because of the convenience of studying at home, our online courses are attractive to UW employees who want to improve their sentence-level grammar and vocabulary. All of the courses have online interactive exercises and short assignments to be completed each week. Instructors respond to assignments within two business days, giving detailed one-on-one feedback.

Students are encouraged to take the 10-minute University of Washington Online English Language Self-Placement Test (UWOELST) available at http://www.uwelp.net/online to know which courses would be appropriate for them. For more information, call 543-6242 or e-mail uwelp@u.washington.edu.

OTHER NEWS

Parking Services Annual Renewal

Annual renewal of parking permits and
U-PASS stickers purchased through payroll deduction is being conducted from April 18-May 7. When you receive your renewal form, please check all the information, make any necessary corrections or modifications, and mail the form to Parking Services, Box 351105 or bring them to Parking Services main office at 3901 University Way NE between
7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. Please act promptly. Remember that all campus parking violations must be satisfactorily settled before a permit will be renewed.

If you purchase a U-PASS to participate in a carpool, you must complete two renewal forms, one for the U-PASS and another for the carpool permit. Your U-PASS renewal form is sent directly to you via campus mail. Carpool renewal forms for all members are sent to the primary driver (head of your carpool). He/she is responsible for distributing the forms to each member. Each carpool member must complete both forms. All completed forms should be bundled into one packet and returned to Parking Services by May 7.

QUESTIONS? E-mail parking@u.washington.edu, check out our Web site at http://www.washington.edu/admin/parking/renew.html or call Permit Office staff at 685-1543.
