Trashed Maybe you dont think twice about that little piece of paper you allow to drop to the ground, but campus gardeners think about it a lot. Gardeners find themselves picking up litter thats in the way when theyre trying to do their real jobs, which is, of course, caring for plants. So the gardeners who work near the northeast residence halls - McMahon, McCarty and Haggett - decided to show student residents just how much litter they generate. Teaming up with residence hall administrators, RAs and a student service group, the gardeners made displays of a weeks worth of litter in front of each hall yesterday.

Physics by inquiry Ninth-graders from Brian Mezas physical science class at Seattle Preparatory School visited the UW recently, where they did a lesson on light and apertures that was designed by student teachers like junior Maria Topel. Topel and the others are on track to be middle and high school math and science teachers. The lesson was based on Physics by Inquiry (John Wiley), a curriculum developed especially for the preparation of teachers. Physics by Inquiry is part of a class taught by members of the Physics Education Group in the Physics Department.
