DAZZLING DESIGN: The spring 2000 issue of Tahoma West, UW Tacomas annual literary magazine, has been honored with the publication design award given by the Associated Writing Programs, the professional organization for writers and academic writing programs in the United States and Canada. The program gives only one award a year in undergraduate publication design. Tahoma West is a student-produced journal.
READING RESTROOMS: Campus librarians probably havent discovered this yet, but their restrooms are billed as the place to go for travelers to the U-District. Besttoilets.com, a Web site tagged as the place to go before you have to, includes Seattle among the cities whose restrooms it locates. Once on the Seattle page, you click on your neighborhood of choice and get a list of public restrooms. Of course, the listing is there courtesy of people who write in and describe their favorite pit stops, so it isnt surprising that the only one listed for the U-District is in Suzzallo. Its also not surprising that the contributor lists only one set of restrooms in Suzzallo - the ones near the reading room - and those restrooms are currently closed because of construction. Moreover, the lister has a problem with spelling, calling the building the Sussallo/Allen Library Building. Alas, the librarys restrooms only rate two stars. Still, when you gotta go . . .
