JOB POSTING: SUMMER CAMP ASSISTANT

Reports to: School & Youth Programs Manager, Summer Camp Lead Instructors
Type: Contract
Term: Monday-Friday. July 6-August 14, 8:30 am-4:30 pm + 1-half-day orientation the week of June 29 (exact
date and time TBD)
Compensation: $15 per hour ($600 weekly)

Position Description

The Summer Camp Assistant supports BIMA Summer Camp Lead Instructors in daily administration and facilitation of six weeks of summer day camps, designed to engage youth in the exploration of art and craft in a fun and creative environment. This position is perfect for a responsible, creative young adult, who enjoys working
with youth ages 6-17.

Responsibilities & Duties

•Support all camp activities, with a focus on child safety in the classroom, museum galleries, and during off-site
excursions.
• Support Lead Instructor and students on supply preparation, daily set-up/clean-up, attendance tracking, etc.
• Support Lead Instructor and students on art projects, games, and other camp activities.
• Supervise youth throughout break and lunchtimes, as well as during open-studio work time for older students.
• Communicate with Education staff about camp projects, space and supply needs, and any behavioral challenges
that may arise.
• Support showcase of student work for families on the final day of camp each week

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent, must be 18 years or older
• Friendly, open attitude and passion for working with children
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff and students
• Strong customer service skills utilizing courtesy, tact, flexibility and good judgment
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Physical ability to perform job functions
• Clearance of criminal background check
• Skills in visual art and craft preferred but not required
