Job Summary:
This position is a part-time position for a maker/ fabricator. This person will be a member of our core team, working closely with the designer, creative director, event manager, and our network of contractor fabricators to carry out the custom creations.
We are hiring mainly for a great fit for our company, not necessarily experience in this particular role. We want a great attitude, great ideas, and an aptitude to figure things out and think on your feet. You should be an avid builder/ maker/ crafter and have produced physical things. You should be able to research on your own, experiment with materials, and figure out the best way to create something- and then create it.
Successful candidate must be efficient with time, and NOT procrastinate.
Successful candidate should love discovering new materials and working with a variety of media and a variety of project types.
Your main responsibility will ensure that all pieces of an event are fabricated, assembled, curated, and finished. Everyone on our team participates in setting up and taking down events- sometimes occurs on weekends and late nights.
This position is highly flexible and can be adapted to the individual
Hours: range between 20-30 per week with opportunity for more hours during peak season (November + December) Production artist must attend weekly check ins with the creative director and team, be self directed, but open to feedback and not afraid to ask questions.
Pay: Pay range is $18-25 an hour depending upon experience.
Location: Employee will work out of our Edmonds office.
Past duties for this role have included:
Building custom pedestals that will support 300 lbs.
Foraging/ Curating logs
Purchase all raw materials.
Develop and record instructional videos to crew staff.
Mentor crew staff on building practices.
Research costs and fabrication options for a 20’ space needle.
Reading plans, and instructions
Paint a Seattle scene on a 16’ wall.
Determine best connection option for standoff sign.
Solder clips to ends of wire.
Build shelves
Transform a chair to be shaped like a hand.
Upholster a chair
Paint an ombre effect on a 20’ wall.
Apply vinyl text to walls.
Trouble shoot weight issues for 6’ tall papier mache mushroom.
Make 1000 paper fans to create a 10X20’ fan wall
Drill holes in 200 books
Research solutions to make a 6’ self supporting banana out of sustainable materials.

Physical Requirements:
• The employee is required to stand, walk and use hands to finer, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or crawl. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Employee must move awkward and large size items and maneuver them into doors and elevators and through winding hallways. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to heavy. The temperature will vary from hot to cold depending on the weather. The employee must be able to (or willing to learn) to drive a 16′ and 24′ truck. Standing and walking on concrete floors (sometimes for hours) is sometimes necessary.
Qualifications:
• GED or High School Diploma-Possess a valid Washington State drivers license with a clean driving record-Must speak, read and write English fluently
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs and operate dollies and carts
• Must be able or willing to learn how to drive vans and large trucks up to 20 feet long.
• Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time
• Must be comfortable with heights and working on a ladder
• Must have flexible availability and the ability to work late nights and some weekends 15-20 times a year.
• Must be detail oriented, with close attention to care needed for fragile items-Must be able to read a map and be good with locating Event Venues in the Seattle Area-Prior experience in the Event Industry or Theater industry a plus.
