Rainbow on the Eastside – Call For Art

Call For Art – Rainbow on the Eastside

For Pride Month 2020, we want to celebrate LGBTQIA creatives who live in Seattle’s Eastside communities. This will be the first gallery show for local LGBTQIA artists on the Eastside!

The artwork will be on display at the gallery space in the Centro Cultural Mexicano in Redmond, WA during June 2020.

Who can submit art?
Eastside residents who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, transgender, intersex, non-binary or any other part of the LGBTQIA rainbow. 🙂

For determining artist eligibility for this exhibition, we’re using the broadest definition of the Eastside: East King County and the Snoqualmie Valley.

That would include the cities of Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah, Woodinville, Renton, Kenmore, Bothell, Bellevue, Clyde Hill, Medina, Yarrow Point, Hunts Point, Newcastle, Mercer Island, Duvall, North Bend, Snoqualmie, Preston, Fall City, and Carnation.

Eligible artwork
For visual art entries, original artwork created by the submitting artist is eligible. Fan art, copies of other artists’ paintings, work from commercial kits, or works based on other artists’ instructions or patterns are ineligible. (You can, however, submit artwork with designs based on Pride flags or other Pride-related symbols. )

The goal of this exhibition is to showcase the art of LGBTQIA artists. The subject matter of the artwork does NOT have to the queer-themed.

Open to all media types. Photographers, painters, illustrators, jewelry artists, fiber artists and other artists are welcome to submit work for consideration. Due to space constraints, the gallery may not be able to accommodate digital installation art that require the use of screens and/or projectors, but digital artists can submit prints of their work.

We are also looking for performance artists to perform during our Opening Reception on 6/5/2020, 6pm-9pm. Performed works should be original works created by the submitting artists or works that are in the public domain. The performance needs to be executed within a 10’x8’x8′ space.

Refer to Terms and Conditions for additional information.

How to submit?
