The internship requires work in both an office environment and outdoors at events with regular interaction with the general public.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Educational benefit to student:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applied experience in community development and outreach, an understanding of public service and programs, experience working on a marketing and communications team, experience working in arts programing and event production.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th id=\"examplesOfDuties\" class=\"jobheadings\">\u00a0Job Responsibilities:<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"jobdetail\" headers=\"examplesOfDuties\">\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with pre-planning &amp; day-of-event logistics for variety of events. Day of activities include (but is not limited to) set up, photography, interaction with constituents, staffing (registration, etc), strike\/teardown of ARTS booth.<\/li>\n<li>Assist Public Relations Specialist with marketing materials and drafts of written materials for print and web.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain up to date shared calendar of ARTS events.<\/li>\n<li>Compile arts related items for &#8216;in the news&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Special projects as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th id=\"typicalQualifications\" class=\"jobheadings\">\u00a0Qualifications:<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"jobdetail\" headers=\"typicalQualifications\"><strong>Minimum Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Education:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Must be enrolled in an accredited educational program preferably studying Fine Arts (Music, Visual or Performing Arts), Arts Administration, Marketing or Public Relations, Event Management and related fields.<\/p>\n<p>Undergraduate interns must maintain a satisfactory GPA of 2.0 or higher for the duration of the internship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Experience<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Excellent oral and written communication skills.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Able to work efficiently and accurately.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The ability to work quickly and collaboratively to solve problems.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Operational familiarity with social media platforms.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Able to establish effective working relationships.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Must have a curiosity and interest in the Arts.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Must have the ability to bend and lift 30 lbs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong knowledge of Seattle&#8217;s arts communities.<\/li>\n<li>Experience planning, promoting and executing events.<\/li>\n<li>Experience managing live performances, photo\/video documentation of live events and\/or outdoor art installations.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with public relations, AV\/Tech, marketing, and journalism a plus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th id=\"supplementalInfo\" class=\"jobheadings\">\u00a0Additional Information:<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"jobdetail\" headers=\"supplementalInfo\"><strong>Start\/End Dates:\u00a0 <\/strong>Intern will start late September\/early October\u00a0with a negotiable\u00a0end date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule<\/strong>:\u00a0 Intern will work between 15-20 hours\/week.\u00a0 Work will be scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.\u00a0 Intern may work some weekends and evenings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong>:\u00a0 Undergraduates will be paid $15.73\/hour.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply:<\/strong>\u00a0 complete an online application and include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unofficial transcript including current classes and GPA<\/li>\n<li>Cover letter<\/li>\n<li>Resume<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Incomplete applications will not be considered.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seattle.gov\/personnel\/employment\/default_TemporaryAndInternship.asp\">http:\/\/www.seattle.gov\/personnel\/employment\/default_TemporaryAndInternship.asp<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Seattle Office of Arts &amp; Culture is seeking a junior or senior college intern to\u00a0assist the Communications and Outreach team \u00a0in all aspects of managing the Office&#8217;s events and communications, including preparation and dissemination of print and online marketing materials, pre-event planning and logistics, day-of-event onsite work and planning.
