{"id":3237,"date":"2020-03-18T10:00:26","date_gmt":"2020-03-18T17:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/?p=3237"},"modified":"2020-03-16T12:56:14","modified_gmt":"2020-03-16T19:56:14","slug":"shoreline-arts-equity-project-call-for-artists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/2020\/03\/18\/shoreline-arts-equity-project-call-for-artists\/","title":{"rendered":"Shoreline Arts &#038; Equity Project Call for Artists"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>Call for Artists: Shoreline Arts and Equity Project<br \/>\nDeadline for first consideration: March 20th, 2020.<br \/>\nDecision: March 30th, 2020<\/h5>\n<p>Shoreline Community College\u2019s Arts and Equity Project is looking for local artists from historically underrepresented communities who have a demonstrated commitment to equity and social justice in their creative work, to participate in a planned series of presentations and workshops during the first week of June.<\/p>\n<p>Artists selected for this event will spend from 1-3 hours showing their work, discussing how it relates to equity and social justice, and leading an interactive workshop with students and other members of the campus community.<\/p>\n<p>The series theme is Deconstructing Boundaries, which embraces many possible approaches. Our project intersects with the work of others on campus including the Community Read Work Group, which this year is focusing on the book Papers: Stories of Undocumented Youth (Graham Street Productions, 2012), and a project working on developing sustainability-related curriculum We are inspired by past work at our college centering issues of equity and social justice. We are looking for artists from diverse backgrounds working in any medium, including but not limited to visual arts, literary arts, music, movement, theatre, film and video, and mixed media.<\/p>\n<p>The Arts and Equity selection committee is made up of faculty, staff, and administrators from across campus, including representatives from Adult Basic Education, American Ethnic Studies, Art, Chemistry, Communications, Drama, English, Library, Multicultural Center, Music, Sociology, and Student Life.<\/p>\n<p>An honorarium is included (amount TBD).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Proposals should include:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 artist\u2019s resume<br \/>\n\u2022 examples of your work (see over for format),<br \/>\n\u2022 artist\u2019s statement,<br \/>\n\u2022 brief (500-word) proposal for a presentation and\/or workshop to engage students with the arts through an equity lens, 1 \u2013 3 hours total duration<br \/>\n\u2022 your availability during the first week of June,<br \/>\n\u2022 connection to historically underrepresented community or communities (can be included in artist\u2019s statement).<\/p>\n<p><strong>All materials should be sent to Brandon Fryman at <a href=\"mailto:bfryman@shoreline.edu\">bfryman@shoreline.edu<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Formats for samples of artist\u2019s work:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Literary Arts 3 \u2013 5 pages of written work (complete or excerpts), in MS Word or PDF format, or link to a website<\/p>\n<p>Visual Arts 3 \u2013 5 digital images in a standard format such as .jpg or .png, 1200 \u2013 1900 dpi, or link to a website<\/p>\n<p>Music 1 \u2013 5 minutes of recorded music in standard format such as .mp3 or link to a website<\/p>\n<p>Movement 1 \u2013 5 minutes of video in a standard format such as .mp4, or portfolio of digital images in a standard format, or link to a website<\/p>\n<p>Film and Video<br \/>\nTheatre 1 \u2013 5 minutes of video in a standard format such as .mp4, or link to a website<br \/>\nFor forms that do not fit any of the above categories, please contact the coordinator.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Call for Artists: Shoreline Arts and Equity Project Deadline for first consideration: March 20th, 2020.
