We hope you all are doing well during this\u00a0unprecedentedly difficult time. It is understandable to feel overwhelmed \u2013with trepidation, grief, loneliness, exhaustion, and more common, the muted desperation of having all sense of normalcy evaporate. We at\u00a0Capillaries: The Journal of Narrative Medicine<\/em>\u00a0believe that writing and art has real power now, more than ever, to help us unpack our thoughts.\u00a0Thus, we offer our journal to you, as a space to decompress and reflect on personal, community, national, and global issues.<\/p>\n Capillaries\u00a0<\/em>is a student-run project at the University of Washington. Since February 2018, our mission has been to provide the UW community (students, staff, and faculty) with the opportunity to\u00a0reflect on experiences with medicine, healing, illness, and\/or grief through prose, poetry, and artwork. Furthermore, Capillaries aims to support students and the community in their healthcare journeys and to promote greater understanding between the sciences and the humanities.<\/p>\n In our Spring 2020 issue, we want to encourage diverse perspectives and ideas \u2013reflections on being a student during this time and on how this pandemic exposes the resilience, strength, and compassion of our society but also its flaws (e.g. discrimination\/microaggressions, profiteering, inequities in access to healthcare resources and educational resources, etc).<\/p>\n Please feel free to write and create art about experiences and topics other than the covid situation as well \u2013we simply hope that this journal brings you some solace and space for meditation.<\/p>\n ~For previous editions of the journal\u00a0and submission guidelines, please see our website:\u00a0https:\/\/www.capillariesjournal.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n
