{"id":3617,"date":"2020-07-08T15:17:09","date_gmt":"2020-07-08T22:17:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/?p=3617"},"modified":"2020-07-08T15:17:09","modified_gmt":"2020-07-08T22:17:09","slug":"uw-web-designer-position-temporary-full-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/2020\/07\/08\/uw-web-designer-position-temporary-full-time\/","title":{"rendered":"UW Web Designer Position (temporary, full-time)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>The Department of Environmental &amp; Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS) at the University of Washington<\/b> is dedicated to creating sustainable communities where everyone has access to clean air, clean water, safe food and safe workplaces.<\/p>\n<p><b>DEOHS is seeking an experienced <i>Full-Time<\/i> Web Designer to join our Communications team on a temporary basis from July to December 2020.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The Web Designer is primarily responsible for:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Developing user-friendly, responsive design concepts, wireframes and high-fidelity mockups using Adobe Creative Suite.<br \/>\n\u2022 Incorporating user-centered design concepts, techniques and testing into department communications products.<br \/>\n\u2022 Collaborating with the department Web Developer to implement design concepts within the Drupal-based content management platform.<br \/>\n\u2022 Developing graphic presentations, print materials, artwork and illustrations using Adobe Creative Suite.<br \/>\n\u2022 Providing support for blog content and management.<br \/>\n\u2022 Providing upkeep on the department\u2019s photo database.<\/p>\n<p><b>Requirements:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree and two years of work experience in graphic design, visual communication, information design, communication or a similar field.<br \/>\n\u2022 Demonstrated expertise in graphic design concepts and execution, and knowledge of recent graphic design trends and best practices.<br \/>\n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to create user-centered, responsive web pages and features that highlight exceptional visual design and creative skills and a strong understanding of design principles, as well as expert awareness of web best practices, standards and guidelines.<br \/>\n\u2022 Demonstrated expertise in responsive front-end web development languages, including CSS3 and HTML5.<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience with the Adobe CS (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as an individual contributor and as a member of a team.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to take initiative, juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to think strategically, problem-solve and suggest creative solutions in line with department and team objectives.<\/p>\n<p><b>Desired qualifications include:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience working with content management systems for website management, such as Drupal or WordPress.<br \/>\n\u2022 Education and\/or experience in user-centered design concepts and research techniques, such as usability testing.<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience in a public health and\/or higher education setting.<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience translating complex scientific and technical concepts into content for a general audience.<\/p>\n<p><b>Application Process:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The application process for UW positions may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.\u00a0 These assessments may include Work Authorization, Cover Letter, and\/or others.\u00a0 Any assessments that you need to complete will appear on your screen as soon as you select \u201cApply to this position\u201d.
