The Curatorial Fellow will be responsible for curating an exhibition, writing a curatorial statement, communicating with participating artists, and relaying information to the Artaxis Board of Directors in a timely and professional manner.<\/p>\n<p>The resulting virtual exhibition will be hosted on the Artaxis website (via the Artaxis Shop) in late Spring of 2021. Artaxis and The Color Network will support the promotion of this exhibition via their social media platforms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>The Curatorial Fellow selected for this opportunity will be provided with:<\/h4>\n<div class=\"fellowship-text\">\n<ul>\n<li>a stipend of $500<\/li>\n<li>the opportunity to meet with a professional curator for two, one-hour-long sessions to gain additional insight and guidance into the curatorial process and contemporary conversations in the field. We are excited to announce that this year\u2019s Mentor is Angelik Vizcarrondo-Laboy. Vizcarrondo-Laboy is an Assistant Curator at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD), New York, and is the 2020 Curatorial Fellow at the Center for Craft in Asheville, NC.<\/li>\n<li>the option to publish an article related to the exhibition\/curatorial fellowship through our partnership with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studiopotter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Studio Potter<\/a>. Curatorial Fellow would be compensated an additional $100 stipend and a free one-year subscription, courtesy of Studio Potter, upon publication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Eligibity:<\/h4>\n<div class=\"fellowship-text\">\n<ul>\n<li>Self-identify as BIPOC<\/li>\n<li>Have at least one year of professional curatorial experience (or equivalent), resulting in a public exhibition at a commercial, nonprofit, college, or other public venue.<\/li>\n<li>A degree or occupation in curation is not required, however a candidate must show knowledge of current practices in exhibition management.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency and experience in managing information and communication management pertinent to the planning of an online exhibition (i.e. ability to communicate in a timely and professional manner with artists, the Curatorial Mentor, Artaxis and The Color Network leadership, ability to organize and collect artwork and exhibition didactics, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Be up-to-date on discourse within the ceramic community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h4>To Apply:<\/h4>\n<div class=\"one-half first\">\n<div class=\"fellowship-text\">\n<p>Please submit the following, compiled into a single PDF:<input name=\"\" type=\"checkbox\" value=\"\" \/>\u00a0a resume or CV that includes your contact information<\/p>\n<p><input name=\"\" type=\"checkbox\" value=\"\" \/>\u00a0writing sample from a previous exhibition you have worked on (this should be your own writing, not a review of the exhibition written by someone else) and a link to images of the exhibition<\/p>\n<p><input name=\"\" type=\"checkbox\" value=\"\" \/>\u00a0a cover letter outlining your past exhibition\/curatorial history and your interest in this opportunity. You do not need to be explicit with a curatorial direction for this project.<\/p>\n<p>Application must be submitted via the form on this page by 11:59pm EST on November 1st, 2020 for consideration.<\/p>\n<h4>Application Review Process:<\/h4>\n<p>A committee of members from Artaxis and The Color Network will review all complete applications. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. The committee will interview the top three candidates. Interviewed candidates will be asked to provide the committee with the contact information for three professional references.<\/p>\n<h4>Timeline:<\/h4>\n<p>Announcement of Call for Entry: September 15, 2020<br \/>\nApplications Due: November 1, 2020<br \/>\nApplication Review: November 2020<br \/>\nInterviews: Late November \/ Early December 2020<br \/>\nCuratorial Fellow Notified: Mid December 2020<br \/>\nExhibition Dates: April \/ May 2021<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Exhibition Requirements:<\/h4>\n<div class=\"fellowship-text\">\n<ul>\n<li>All artists\/artworks included in the exhibition must be made by artists who are listed on Artaxis and\/or The Color Network\u2019s websites.<\/li>\n<li>Artaxis and the Color Network request that at least 50% of the work in the exhibition be for sale.<\/li>\n<li>Artists whose work is for sale must be able to safely and professionally ship work to buyers. Curator is responsible for communicating this to artists. Purchased works get shipped directly from artist to buyer in a timely manner. We strongly recommend that all shipments be insured against loss or damage through the shipping company.
