We publish a journal each quarter, and in past editions, we have shared stories of love and loss, of coming to terms with one&#8217;s identity, and of understanding what it means to be a global citizen in the 21st century. We at Capillaries: The Journal of Narrative Medicine believe\u00a0<span id=\"m_6044786421904873909gmail-m_-2190001095556101258gmail-docs-internal-guid-e86ddfd8-7fff-bae8-f8e3-91aec94e79ce\">that writing and art have real power now more than ever, to help us unpack our thoughts. Thus, we offer our journal to you as a space to decompress and reflect on personal, community, national, and global issues.<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Guidelines for Submissions<\/p>\n<p>Please submit all written work in a Word Document (Times New Roman, 12 pt font).<\/p>\n<p>All citations must be in MLA format. For assistance on proper MLA formatting, please check out Purdue Owl&#8217;s website: <a href=\"http:\/\/owl.purdue.edu\/owl\/research_and_citation\/mla_style\/mla_formatting_and_style_guide\/mla_formatting_and_style_guide.html\">owl.purdue.edu\/owl\/research_and_citation\/mla_style\/mla_formatting_and_style_guide\/mla_formatting_and_style_guide.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What types of work can I submit?<\/strong><br \/>\nWriting (Prose and Poetry)<br \/>\nPersonal anecdotes<br \/>\nReflections\/articles\/essays on community, national, or global health issues<br \/>\ne.g. In past publications, we shared stories of love and loss, of coming to terms with one&#8217;s identity, and of what it means to be a global citizen in the 21st century.<br \/>\nVisual Art (Please submit in PDF form)<br \/>\nHand-drawings<br \/>\nPaintings<br \/>\nPhotography<br \/>\nGraphic Design<br \/>\nComics<br \/>\n\u200b\u200bMultiple submissions are welcomed<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Philosophy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rather than relying on a system that simply &#8220;accepts&#8221; or &#8220;rejects&#8221; submissions for the journal, we strive to be as all-encompassing as possible. Our goal is to encourage and empower writers and artists to voice their stories and ideas.<br \/>\nOur editing team will review each submission carefully and will provide feedback to the writer\/artist. We aim for the editing process to be a two-way dialogue. We will inform the writers if grammatical changes need to be made and will provide suggestions for content and structure; however, we also wish to respect the stylistic choices of the authors and to honor the stories\/ideas in their authentic form.<br \/>\nWe will NOT, however, accept content that is sexually explicit, discriminatory to any group based on race\/ethnicity\/nationality\/sexual orientation\/gender identity\/ability, or that reveals personal details about a person without their consent (please abide by HIPAA regulations: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/hipaa\/for-professionals\/security\/laws-regulations\/index.html\">www.hhs.gov\/hipaa\/for-professionals\/security\/laws-regulations\/index.html<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Capillaries: The Journal of Narrative Medicine &#8211; Call for Winter 2021 Submissions Click here to submit work!
