This project is geared toward displaced residents of Tacoma\/Hilltop, and those with cultural and historical connections to Hilltop, that will be trained by skilled teaching artists in documentary filmmaking and paid to produce a 10-15 minute short film on the impact of displacement and gentrification in Hilltop while highlighting the creative resiliency of BIPoC Hilltop residents.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_7\"><span class=\"color_15\">We are centering Black, Indigenous and People of Color for both the participants and teaching artist positions. We highly encourage Trans, Queer and Non-binary BIPoC folx to apply.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"comp-kjku82vj\" class=\"_1Z_nJ\" data-testid=\"richTextElement\">\n<p class=\"font_9\"><strong><span class=\"color_15\">Scope of Work<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">We are seeking a Digital Film Teaching Artist to co-lead a 6-8 week course on digital documentary filmmaking basics. The ideal candidate will be proficient in filmmaking, intersectional social justice frameworks, culturally relevant teaching artistry and the ability to adapt your curriculum to an online platform (Zoom).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><strong><span class=\"color_15\">Key Responsibilities<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"font_9 color_15\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">Develop and implement (5) 3-hour workshops on the basics of filmmaking and facilitate over Zoom for up to 6 adults; including skills in pre-production, project management for filmmaking, lighting design, camera set-up and videography, interview techniques for documentary and capture high-quality audio and video.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">Develop and implement (1) three-hour workshop on applying creative strategies for dynamic storytelling which may include, but is not limited to color composition, lighting for different skintones, cinematography design, incorporating various types of media, and innovating approaches to impactful visual storytelling.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">Provide guidance and mentorship for the filmmakers throughout their production schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">Collaborate with fellow Teaching Artists and producing team.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">Give thoughtful feedback on the drafts of the films.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><strong><span class=\"color_15\">Preferred Qualifications<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"font_9 color_15\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">3-5 years experience in film production, teaching artistry and creative facilitation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">A connection to, or knowledge of the Hilltop community.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">Culturally Responsive, Trauma Informed and Social Justice embodied teaching style.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">Proficiency in delivering creative, engaging and informative curricula via Zoom.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills AND experience working with BIPoC communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">Experience in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thealliance.media\/start-start-thinking-impact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">impact producing<\/a>\u00a0(social change + media strategy = impact).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><strong><span class=\"color_15\">Timeline<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"font_9 color_15\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">February\u00a02021\u00a0\u2014 Meeting with teaching artist team &amp; build out curriculum<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">March-May 2021\u00a0\u2014 Facilitate (8) 3-hour weekly filmmaking workshops<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">Support and advise filmmakers on the completion of their films\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">June 2021\u00a0\u2014 Attend the virtual screening showcase<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><strong><span class=\"color_15\">Compensation<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_15\">This is a contract position and will be paid $4,500 for approximately 60 hours of work over the course of 3-5 months. The contractor will be required to submit a W-9 form and be responsible for self-employment taxes.
