This project is geared toward displaced residents of Tacoma\/Hilltop, and those with cultural and historical connections to Hilltop, that will be trained by skilled teaching artists in documentary filmmaking and paid to produce a 10-15\u00a0minute short film on the impact of displacement and gentrification in Hilltop while highlighting the creative resiliency of BIPoC\u00a0Hilltop residents.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">This virtual fellowship will take place primarily via Zoom over 8-weeks beginning in\u00a0March\u00a02021 and culminating\u00a0in virtual community screening events that will be free and open to the public in June of 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">Eligibility:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"font_9 color_11\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">Be currently working on a short film that highlights stories or residents of Hilltop<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">Commit to participating in up to (8) 3-hour weekly trainings from March-May 2021<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">Commit to participating in up to (3) screening and community engagement events<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">Have a willingness to engage in critical conversations around race, social justice and displacement<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">Complete a short documentary by June 2021 &#8211; with the support of the Teaching Artists and Mentors<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">Work thoughtfully with the other participants in the fellowship<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">Be open to receiving support and feedback when needed<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">Have meaningful connections to the Hilltop neighborhood in Tacoma, WA<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">Fellows will receive $2,000 for their participation + production and completion of an 10-15 min film\u00a0and will have access to film equipment and other materials and supplies as needed.<\/span><span class=\"color_11\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">Who We Are Centering:\u00a0people\u00a0who identify as Black\/African descent and other\u00a0*BIPoC (Black, Indigenous and People\u00a0of Color)\u00a0with familial or cultural ties to Hilltop, and folks from these communities who have been or are at risk of being\u00a0displaced from Hilltop due to rent increases, housing and food insecurity, and other intersecting forms of oppression related to gentrification and rapid development.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_9\"><span class=\"color_11\">We highly encourage Trans, queer and non-binary BIPoC folx to apply!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.impact-lens.org\/narrative-justice-fellowship\">Click here to learn more and apply!<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you a BIPoC* filmmaker from or based in\u00a0Hilltop?
