As a critical member of NAAM\u2019s team, the Education and Engagement Director will report to and assist the President &amp; Chief Executive Officer (President &amp; CEO) with public and special events. In this role you will create experiences that enhance the understanding of the history, art and culture of African Americans in the Pacific Northwest and ensures the Museum\u2019s collections and exhibits act as a learning resource for people of all ages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As the Education &amp; Engagement Director, you will:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Develop, implement and own all of the museum\u2019s educational and public programs for children, families and adults including: school tours, Youth Curator Program, Interactive Storytime, Teen Leadership Council, Black Education, History and Heritage Alliance (BEHHA), summer camps, and more<br \/>\n\u2022 Be a visible leader who cultivates and sustains relationships with schools, community based groups, and partner organizations<br \/>\n\u2022 Lead the strategic planning, budget creation and management, goal setting and on-going evaluation for all education and public programs<br \/>\n\u2022 Partner closely with the development team to support their efforts to secure funding and resources for the museum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideal Candidate<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Education &amp; Engagement Director will have:<br \/>\n\u25cf Three to five years of experience successfully developing and implementing museum or school-based programming spanning multiple age groups<br \/>\n\u25cf Understands the history, art and culture of African Americans as well as the current cultural landscape in the Pacific Northwest<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to assess the various needs, preferences, and learning levels of multiple museum audiences<br \/>\n\u25cf A customer service-oriented approach to increasing membership, attendance and revenues<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\n\u25cf Bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field of study; preference will be given to candidates with an M.A. in museum studies, history, or education<br \/>\n\u25cf Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to inspire and influence others<br \/>\n\u25cf Strong computer skills with MS Office Suite, Google and other software systems<br \/>\n\u25cf Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple educational projects simultaneously<br \/>\n\u25cf Experience with managing staff, volunteers, and educational projects<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to build and collaborate with external partners<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application period for this vacancy:<\/strong> The role will remain open until filled.<br \/>\n<strong>Salary:<\/strong> The targeted salary range for this role is $70,000-$80,000 with a generous benefits package.<\/p>\n<p>To apply for this professional opportunity, submit your resume and statement of intent explaining why you want to work with NAAM (cover letter): <a href=\"mailto:HR@naamnw.org\">HR@naamnw.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About NAAM<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Northwest African American Museum (NAAM) is a regionally-prestigious institution that deeply matters to people as a reliable, remarkable, and relevant space where we open minds and change lives through African American history, art, and culture.
