From 1932 until 2004, the U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Service building served as Seattle’s detention and processing center for immigrants. In 2008, a group of investors purchased the building, renamed it Inscape, and built the spaces out as artist studios. A thriving artist community has been growing there ever since. Friends of Inscape emerged from that community this past March, when the owners put the historic building up for sale. Rarely do cities have the opportunity to both preserve a vital and often overlooked piece of history and strengthen the future of creative and
underrepresented communities in the process. Inscape presented such an opportunity. We are working to realize an acquisition in collaboration with public and private partners, to build something that truly demonstrates how powerful the intersection of place, people, past, and present can be.

COMMUNICATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Coordinate Friends of Inscape’s social media calendar and content, curation, and distribution across all social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc)
● Build upon Friends of Inscape’s current supporter list
● Create and send email communications campaigns via Mailchimp
● Assist with the maintenance of friendsofinscape.org
● Monitor and respond to Friends of Inscape organizational email account
● In conjunction with Leadership Group, respond to press inquiries and send press releases

FUNDRAISING RESPONSIBILITIES:
● In conjunction with Leadership Group, identify and support applications for grants
○ Help prepare and submit contracts, reports, and other communications with funders
● In conjunction with Leadership Group, schedule and manage meetings with potential funders and donors

COORDINATION RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Maintain organizational Google Drive and working files
● Take meeting minutes, and manage follow up tasks as appropriate
● In conjunction with Leadership Group, manage ongoing meetings with working groups and stakeholders
● Set up community town halls around visioning for future use of Inscape Arts and Cultural Center
● General office assistance and other tasks as needed

For full job posting and how to apply, click here!

Friends of Inscape seeks Project Coordinator POSITION OVERVIEW The Project Coordinator for Friends of Inscape will be responsible for engaging the broader community — including artists, immigrants, elected officials, and funders — around preserving and enhancing the cultural and historical use of the former INS Building located at 815 Seattle Blvd S.
