The Technician works directly with the Metal &amp; Stone Studio Manager, coordinators and any contractual labor hired for studio related work. The position requires ongoing leadership of maintenance activities in the Metal and Stone Studios, and as needed technical support for the Wood Studio. The Sculpture Technician also actively participates as a member of the Facilities Committee, contributing to the overall maintenance of Pratt facilities, campus-wide.<\/p>\n<p>Pratt Fine Arts Center is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Black, Indigenous &amp; People of Color (BIPoC) are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential Job Functions<\/strong><br \/>\n\u25cf Determine maintenance repair priorities and schedules<br \/>\n\u25cf Ensure regular inspection of sculpture studio equipment and facilities to identify maintenance and repair needs<br \/>\n\u25cf Communicate and enforce studio policies, procedures and standards to instructors, students and renters<br \/>\n\u25cf Work with sculpture studio instructors to ensure a positive experience for the students by maintaining equipment, general appearance of studios and necessary supplies.<br \/>\n\u25cf Work with studio manager to establish annual department budget, and to maintain financial accountability in these areas<br \/>\n\u25cf Plan and implement capital improvements within departmental studios<br \/>\n\u25cf Work with other staff to plan studio related special events<br \/>\n\u25cf Ensure maintenance of SDS resource binder(s), safety and hazmat needs for the studio<br \/>\n\u25cf Participate in and assist in development of cross training programs in order to gain overall knowledge of workplace function and to help cover vacant positions<br \/>\n\u25cf Participation in Pratt-wide Facilities Committee meetings, projects and activities<br \/>\n\u25cf Drive forklift and process deliveries of supplies for the Metal and Stone Studios<br \/>\n\u25cf Other duties as assigned<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications<\/strong><br \/>\n\u25cf 3+ years related experience<br \/>\n\u25cf Knowledge of arts organizations or related institutions<br \/>\n\u25cf Organizational skills, teamwork and communication skills<br \/>\n\u25cf Experience purchasing, maintaining and repairing related equipment<br \/>\n\u25cf Proven skills in general maintenance, i.e. mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and welding-specific skill areas preferred<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to be trained on the job quickly, efficiently and accurately<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to keep a positive demeanor in a demanding work environment, with an ability to adapt to an evolving organizational structure<br \/>\n\u25cf Comfortable working autonomously as well as working in a Team and taking direction<br \/>\n\u25cf Valid Driver\u2019s License<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to pass forklift certification (or have existing certification)<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to safely lift 50 pounds<br \/>\n\u25cf Competence in serving diverse populations<br \/>\n\u25cf Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualities<\/strong><br \/>\n\u25cf Studio operation budget development and oversight<br \/>\n\u25cf Electrical and\/or electronics experience<br \/>\n\u25cf Welding and metal fabrication skills or experience<br \/>\n\u25cf Woodworking skills or experience<br \/>\n\u25cf Knowledge of forklift operation or forklift certification<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compensation<\/strong><br \/>\nFull-time salary range $45,000-50,000 DOE + medical, dental, long-term disability, and paid vacation. Employee-paid short-term disability and retirement programs are provided, but are optional.
