The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS) is offering a professional development and mentorship program for visual artists who are interested in the public art realm but have limited experience.<\/p>\n
Artists will be selected through a competitive process to participate in a series of monthly workshops, seminars, and staff-led public art-related mentorship meetings focused on the public art practice which will culminate in a commission for a temporary public artwork.<\/strong> Workshops will take place approximately October 2022 through June 2023, and project commissions will tentatively be installed in August 2023. Up to 12 individual artists will be selected to participate.<\/p>\n Public Art Boot Camp is open to\u00a0artists living in Washington State who have not received a temporary or permanent public art commission over $5,000<\/strong>\u00a0(a commission is defined as an artwork that is created by an artist at the request of an entity: public agency, private business, corporation, or individual; and that is\/was displayed in a public location).<\/p>\n Priority will be given to emerging artists and artists from historically underrepresented communities, including communities of color.<\/p>\n The deadline to apply is\u00a05:00pm Pacific, Wednesday, May 4, 2022<\/strong>.\u00a0Please allow ample time to complete and upload your application.<\/p>\n Learn about the Public Art Boot Camp process from how we select public art commissions to how to put together a strong application.<\/p>\n This is an online workshop and you will only be given a link to the meeting\u00a0after\u00a0you register.
