This is a paid position, which we are aiming to fill by\u00a0early January 2023.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"im\"><b><u>Shop\u00a0Assistant\u00a0Position Description<\/u><\/b><br \/>\nThe\u00a0Shop\u00a0Assistant\u00a0is compensated for their time and expertise and asked to support the Teaching Artist in hands-on ways in the classroom. The\u00a0Shop\u00a0Assistant\u00a0is responsible for working with small groups of youth, reviewing demos for students, and ensuring that students are safe with equipment. <b>We are looking for someone with strong\u00a0experience\u00a0with wood and\/or metal\u00a0shops\u00a0and tools, not necessarily with kids.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><u>Responsibilities<\/u><\/b><br \/>\n\u25cf Support Teaching Artist in daily classes, including active hands-on work with youth<\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Provide an extra set of hands in demos or group activities<span class=\"im\"><br \/>\n\u25cf Independently oversee small groups of actively working students<br \/>\n\u25cf Help with clean up, set-up and transitions<br \/>\n\u25cf Help identify and assist students who may need extra support<br \/>\n\u25cf Engage youth with open-ended questions to guide them in critical thinking and finding possible solutions on their own<br \/>\n<\/span>\u25cf Monitor students\u2019 activity and ensure that they are using equipment safely and as instructed<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><u>Qualifications<\/u><\/b><br \/>\n\u25cf Proficiency with hand tools and power tools within the wood and\/or metal\u00a0shop.<\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Ability to safely operate all tools in the\u00a0shop.<br \/>\n\u25cf Willingness to work as a member of a team, taking cues from the Teaching Artist<\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Competency listening to and problem-solving with students of diverse backgrounds<\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Ability to initiate conversation with youth rather than waiting for youth to come to you<\/div>\n<div><span class=\"im\">\u25cf Personal integrity and a passion for enriching the lives of youth through creativity<br \/>\n<b><br \/>\n<u>Compensation<\/u><\/b><br \/>\n<\/span>$25 per hour (21 hours over 7 weekends, or 20 hours for a 5-day M-F class, see options below)<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><b><u>Position Dates:<\/u><\/b><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Feb 4\/5 &#8211; March 25\/26 (skip Feb 18\/19)<span class=\"im\"><br \/>\nWe are running 4 classes which need\u00a0assistants:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li>Saturday 10am-1pm \/\/ Woodshop<\/li>\n<li>Saturday 1:30-4:30pm \/\/ Woodshop<\/li>\n<li>Sunday 10am-1pm \/\/ Welding<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Sunday 1:30-4:30pm \/\/ Welding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Midwinter Break, Feb 20-24<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>9am-1pm \/\/ Woodshop<\/li>\n<li>1:30-5:30pm \/\/ Woodshop<\/li>\n<li>9am-1pm \/\/\u00a0Welding<\/li>\n<li>1:30-5:30pm \/\/\u00a0Welding<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><b><u>To apply:<\/u><\/b><\/div>\n<div>Please send CV or Resume to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:marijke@coyotecentral.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">marijke@coyotecentral.org<\/a><\/div>\n<div>In the email include:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>preference of class(es) above<\/li>\n<li>a fun fact about yourself<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>a few 45 minute windows you are available to ZOOM the week of Dec 12-16 and Jan 2-6<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Coyote Central\u00a0is looking for\u00a0shop\u00a0assistants\u00a0to help with our weekend wood &amp; metal classes this winter.
