Happy Fall quarter! We hope you all are having a great start to the year. We at <\/span><\/span>Capillaries: The Journal of Medical Humanities<\/span><\/span>\u00a0believe that writing and art have real power now more than ever, to help us unpack our thoughts. <\/span>Thus, we offer our journal to you as a space to decompress and reflect on personal, community, national, and global issues.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Capillaries <\/span><\/span>is a student-run project at the University of Washington. Since February 2018, our mission has been to provide the UW community (students, staff, and faculty) with the opportunity to reflect on experiences with medicine, healing, illness, and\/or grief through prose, poetry, and artwork. Furthermore, <\/span><\/span>Capillaries<\/span><\/span>\u00a0aims to support students and the community in their healthcare journeys and to promote greater understanding between the sciences and the humanities.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In past publications, we shared stories of love and loss, of mental health and disordered eating, of coming to terms with one’s identity, and of understanding what it means to be a global citizen in the 21st century.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

For our Autumn 2023 issue, feel free to write and create art about any experience or topic you feel comfortable sharing \u2013 we simply hope that this journal brings you some solace and space for meditation.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
