Do you want to share your knowledge with others?<\/p>\n<p>Northwest Pottery Collective is a new, locally owned pottery studio in Issaquah, WA that provides a wide-range of ceramic art classes, open studio memberships, and specialty supply sales to the community. The mission of Northwest Pottery Collective is to provide a welcoming and encouraging environment for ceramic artists of all ages and abilities to engage with the ceramic arts and the community. We endeavor to be an inclusive, non-intimidating space where everyone, regardless of experience or perceived \u201cartistic talent\u201d can learn the ceramic arts and feel successful. We are Creating Community with Clay!<\/p>\n<p>At Northwest Pottery Collective, the Pottery Instructor is responsible for preparing, leading, and organizing class sessions for adults and children of various skill levels and experience. The Pottery Instructor will teach classes and age levels commiserate with their ceramic expertise but may be asked to stretch into other topics or age levels as needed. The Pottery Instructor may be asked to lead classes on evenings, weekends, or during the day.<\/p>\n<p>Pottery Instructor duties at Northwest Pottery Collective include:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Setting up, organizing, planning, and leading ceramic classes and workshops for adults and children<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Communicating, connecting, and engaging with class participants of various ages and abilities, both orally and in writing<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Creating a fun, energetic, and encouraging environment for learning<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Communicating the fundamentals of ceramic art techniques in an easily understood manner<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Ensuring a clean and organized studio environment after class and workshop sessions<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Taking class attendance, processing payments, updating customer accounts, and other administrative tasks as needed<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Commitment to a regular schedule on a quarterly basis that may include evenings and weekends<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Minimum 3 years creating ceramic art, either as a profession, student, or hobby<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Preferred: Minimum 2 years experience teaching ceramic arts, preferably wheel throwing and hand-building, to adults and\/or children at a public or private institution<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Preferred: Minimum 1 year experience as a Studio Technician at a public or private institution<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Preferred: Experience with class registration software, processing customer payments, and managing class schedules<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Experience with studio operations, including claim reclaim, pugging, glaze mixing\/maintenance, etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Excellent leadership skills and adept at leading\/teaching groups of 10-20 people<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Superior organizational skills<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Excellent communication skills, both oral and written<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Have a helpful, friendly, and energetic attitude<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Be comfortable with occasionally serving alcohol during events and be able to attain appropriate permits<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Regular hours every quarter<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Paid time for 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after classes\/workshops<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Use of studio equipment and tools during Open Studio (if equipment is available) or after-hours (restrictions may apply)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Purchase clay at cost<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Friends &amp; Family discount codes for class registration and Open Studio memberships (restrictions apply)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Potential hourly pay raises with exceptional performance<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Ability to have private students during Open Studio times for a higher hourly rate<\/p>\n<p>At Northwest Pottery Collective, we are hiring for multiple Class Instructor positions and will strive to fit each instructor with the class types that best fit their experience and<\/p>\n<p>expertise, but we may ask our instructors to stretch into other topics as needed.
