Newly placed foster children often suffer anxiety and react destructively to their new surroundings. Anger is a natural part of separation anxiety. Hide breakables and valuables during this phase of adjustment.

Children in foster care may have different developmental needs compared to other children of the same age. They may require a modified environment to meet these needs. For example, they may have poor impulse control. It may be necessary to keep your purse locked up to avoid losing money, credit cards, and car keys.
