Are you ready for some football?
The UW announced this week that its premier season preview celebrations will take place in late August. The annual Husky Marching Band Sneak Preview is Thursday, Aug. 19 in the Don James Center, while Raise the Woof! is Aug. 27 on the east practice field at Husky Stadium. The UW kicks off the season Sept. 4 at BYU.
I went to the Husky Marching Band Sneak Preview two years ago and it was great. Good food, lots of fans, and a closed-doors talk from the head coach who came right off the field from practice. Doors open an hour before dinner and it’s definitely worth going early. How many other times can you sip a cold microbrew and watch the Dawgs practice?
The athletic department launched Raise the Woof! last year to try and pump up support for Steve Sarkisian’s first campaign. It was a huge success. All of the players were there, and it a great experience for everyone in attendance. Tickets to Raise the Woof! are a bit more expensive ($60) than the HMB Sneak Preview ($25 for UW Alumni Association members), but both events are perfect for Husky fans and families excited for the upcoming season.
