Eli completed a B.Sc degree in Mathematics and Computer Science (magna cum laude) in 2002. He was awarded an M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Applied Mathematics from the Weizmann Institue of Science in 2005 and 2009 respectively. His advisor was Prof. Vered Rom-Kedar. In their work they developed a framework for classification of solutions of the perturbed nonlinear Schrodinger equation, a model arising in various physical setups such as: nonlinear waves theory, Bose-Einstein condensates, plasma dynamics etc...
Since September 2009, Eli joined the department of Applied Mathematics in UW for his postdoctoral research as an Acting Assistant Professor. His reasearch interests intersect with several faculty members. In particular he is collaborating on nonlinear waves with Prof. Nathan Kutz who is his mentor and also with Prof. Eric Shea-Brown on the connection between dynamical systems and theoretical neuroscience. He is interested in a variety of problems in applied mathematics such as: Dynamical Systems & Chaos, Mathematical theory for the nonlinear Schrodinger/Gross-Pitaevski equations, Applications of nonlinear PDEs to Physics, Numerical methods for chaotic systems and Mathematical Neuroscience.
