AMTAS Institute on Advanced Aircraft Composites

Fee:	$2,500. Groups of five or more from the same organization receive a discount of $100 off the per-person registration fee. Registrations must be submitted together.
Location:	University of Washington campus, Seattle, WA
Description:	This intermediate level course provides in-depth instruction on the use of advanced composite materials for aircraft from engineering design and manufacturing points of view. Specifically, the course is designed to address critical areas of composite technologies, including materials, manufacturing, tooling, analysis, design, testing, inspection, and repair. Course content does not contain any proprietary or export-controlled information. The course will be taught by leading experts from academia, industry and government with a combined total of more than 250 years of experience in composite research, development, and education. After successfully completing this course, the student will be able to identify the unique characteristics of composites and apply the fundamental and practical knowledge necessary to build and maintain aircraft composite structural hardware.

FAA Composites Maintenance Training Workshop

Description:	This event is by invitation only. The curriculum currently being developed will provide an introduction to the maintenance and repair of composite materials used in aircraft products. Agenda Items: The topics currently scheduled for review at the workshop are listed below. Each session will consist of review of four focal areas: Base Knowledge, Teamwork & Disposition, Damage Detection & Characterization, and Repair Process. Many of these relate to Edmonds Community College’s development of an introductory short course on composite maintenance. AMTAS Composites Maintenance Workshop

The overall goal of the workshop is to begin developing the curriculum for composites repair training courses for technicians, engineers and inspectors that will be offered beginning in September 2005. Specific topics will include: Reviewing current and projected composite structure application areas that such training will need to address Reviewing SAE Commercial Aircraft Composite Repair Committee – Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) documents recommendations for maintenance, quality, and technical personnel Developing training objectives and competencies Establishing course delivery methods and formats Discussing delivery network approaches and systems Identifying training facilities worldwide There is no registration cost for the meeting.
