Employment Opportunities

Whether you work bedside in the OR or at the research bench, in pain relief or administration, you are on the leading edge of today's health care.

The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Washington serves the educational needs for the five "WWAMI" states: Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. Our faculty educate tomorrow's innovative clinicians, academic leaders, and breakthrough researchers who represent the future of our specialty.

Our Faculty and the research they conduct are recognized nationally and internationally as leading scientists whose medical discoveries set the future standard for the next generation of patient care. Faculty in Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine engage in multidisciplinary research with major emphasis in neuroscience and pain, genomics and mitochondria biology, outcomes, and resident and patient education.

Our clinical faculty provide outstanding patient-centered care at four leading academic medical centers, which includes the only Level 1 trauma center in 4 states: Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska which is the model for paramedic systems across the nation.

Our Division of Pain Medicine provides both inpatient and outpatient services in 9 programs at 5 hospitals and inpatient and outpatient services. UW Medical Center is home to the world's first multidisciplinary pain clinic, which opened in 1961 and became a world model for the diagnosis, study and treatment of chronic and acute pain. As the birthplace of modern pain medicine, not surprisingly UW Pain faculty serve as key leaders in the field.
