Seattle Guide:
Living in Seattle, the Emerald City

The style of living and working in the Pacific Northwest is productive, yet cordial and informal. Summers are warm and dry, while winters are typically mild.

The University of Washington has campuses in three Northwestern cities, Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma. The Seattle campus hosts the department of Anesthesiology.

One nickname for Seattle is the Emerald City, and if you arrive by air, the reason will be evident: trees and green grass abound. The city itself is bordered by large bodies of water and mountains beyond: the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains to the west and Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountain Range to the east. To the south and north is industry and farms, tulip fields and salmon rivers.
