Medical Students:
Funded Clerkship for
Underrepresented Visiting Students

Funded fourth-year medical student clerkships in Anesthesiology at the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine are available at either the UW Medical Center or Harborview Medical Center. Qualified applicants from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in medicine are encouraged to apply for these positions. Funding up to $2,500 is available for reimbursement of travel, housing, meals and application fees.

Program Description

Our visiting student program is designed to give students the opportunity to experience the exceptional training that the UW has to offer. Students will spend 4 weeks at either the UW Medical Center or Harborview Medical Center participating in the care of patients in the general operating rooms. Other subspecialty services may be considered based on availability and interest. Students will care for a variety of patients undergoing both elective and emergent procedures at these tertiary care centers (including a Level I trauma center and the state's largest Safety Net hospital).

In addition to providing an enriching educational experience, this unique opportunity affords students a chance to form close working relationships with residents, fellows and attendings.
