Hello. I am Erica Pedersen. Here are some basics about me: B.A. in English, Masters in Creative Writing, TESOL certification (TESOL stands for Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages), 10 years of ESL teaching and ESL program management at a refugee resettlement office, over 5 years of one-on-one classes in English pronunciation and grammar, over 3 years of English classes with ASUW, the Experimental College.
During classes, I have helped students develop pronunciation of the R sound, perfect the TH sound, learn the different American T sounds, understand pronunciation of vowel sounds, develop word stress and more. I have worked with people from East Africa, Senegal, India, Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Germany, Bosnia, Russia, the Ukraine and other countries.
This year, I am also teaching a new class on American English idioms (everyday expressions). This class is great for students who want to practice speaking casually or have some fun with the advanced, quirky side of our language!
