Biography of Master Chang, Wu Na & Dr. Lu, Mei-hui
(1) Master Chang, Wu Na (Daoist name “Bao Na”)
Master Chang began his martial arts training at a very young age. He was taken as indoor disciple by Grandmaster Qian, Timing, who holds 8 Duan title in the Chinese national martial arts ranking system and is the 12th generation lineage holder of Wudang Dan Pai in China. He received rigorous training in Wudang Free-Step Taiji , Wudang Continuous Stepping Sword, Wudang Baguazhang and various weapons. Later, he was taken as indoor disciple by a Daoist Monk, Grandmaster Ma Jie, who holds the title of 7 Duan martial arts ranking in China and is the 12th generation lineage holder of Wudang Xuan Men Dan Pai. From Grandmaster Ma, he trained deeply in Wudang Qigong, Traditional Wudang Sword, Wudang Qigong Taiji and Han Mu-Xia style Xingyiquan. Besides the two Grandmasters in Wudang system, Master Chang is also disciple of Gao Ji-Wu, who holds 8 Duan title in Chinese martial arts ranking system and is the President of Beijing Baguazhang Research Association; and disciple of Yang Fan-Sheng, who is the leading Grandmaster in Shan Xi style Xingyiquan. In addition, Master Chang has been trained in esoteric Daoism throughout China and has been certified as a Daoist on Wudang Mountain. He has won many national and international martial arts championships for Internal Boxing and weapons. His biography has been included in newspapers, Chinese magazines, and the recent edition of the Encyclopedia of Contemporary Outstanding Chinese Martial Arts Masters. He has taught in Tianjin, Beijing and Wudang Mountain to many local Chinese students. Master Chang continues to teach in Seattle, Washington, where he is the president and the head instructor of the International Wudang Internal Martial Arts Academy.
(2) Dr. Lu, Mei-hui (Daoist name “Bao Hui”)
Dr. Lu was born into a martial arts family in Taiwan. Through the approach of osmosis, she has built up a solid foundation in martial arts since a very young age. Together with Master Chang, she was taken as indoor disciple of Grandmasters Qian, Timing, Ma Jie, Gao Ji-Wu and Yang Fan-Sheng, all of whom are top-level martial artists and leading figures in the fields of Taiji, Wudang Sword, Baguazhang, Xingyiquan and weapons. She is thus very fortunate to have received a thorough training in the internal martial arts. Dr. Lu and Master Chang are the only disciples in Wudang system who have received training in both Traditional Wudang Sword and Continuous-Stepping Wudang Sword. She has won championships in many national and international martial arts competitions for her performance in hand forms, weapons and push hands. She is listed in the Encyclopedia of Contemporary Outstanding Chinese Martial Arts Masters. Besides her achievements in martial arts, Dr. Lu is a renowned scholar, Qigong instructor and Daoist. Her publications cover the fields of education, language and culture, Chinese medicine, painting, and martial arts. She has written the curriculum and textbook of Xingyiquan implemented in Physical Education classes for First-to Ninth- grade students in Taigu County in Shanxi Province, China, where Xingyiquan originated. Together with Master Chang, Dr. Lu has published the book “The Major Methods of Wudang Sword”, in which she is the translator and Master Chang is the commentator. During the trips throughout China, Dr. Lu has the opportunities to share the art she is good at with many local people including those in Wudang Mountain . Dr. Lu teaches and is the vice president of the International Wudang Internal Martial Arts Academy in Seattle, Washington. Besides these, she is currently working on translating and writing books on Chinese internal martial arts.
