Tsai-En was born and grew up in Taiwan. She is an ESL and Mandarin instructor with educational background in MA TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), BA in Communication Arts, film production and accounting. She has been teaching for more than 10 years and focused on second or foreign language acquisition. Besides teaching Mandarin at preschools and elementary schools, she also teaches Chinese business Mandarin and Chinese business etiquette classes at UW experimental College, Seattle Central Community College and companies facilities. Therefore, her students’ ages are from as young as 2 year old to as old as 85 in records. All her classrooms are student centered and based on students’ needs and goals.
Outside of the classroom, she enjoys searching for different teaching methods and sharing her passion with parents and other educators by conducting worldwide teacher training webinars for Mandarin teachers several times a year and attending a variety of related conferences when time allows.
She presented at TESOL and WAFLT conference about pronunciation, digital storytelling approach and merging culture in language classroom. She also volunteers her time to host Chinese culture and folk arts camp with several passionate teachers twice a year. Even though Tsai-En's schedule looks busy, she always put her two young sons as her top priority, so parenting, leadership and bilingual education are also her personal interests. If you ask her what her hobbies are, she will tell you "TEACHING languages and culture, SHARING passion with others and PLAYING with my boys."
