Planer Safety procedures		A planer (also called a surfacer) is designed to surface boards to a specified thickness and to smooth rough-cut lumber. A cutting head is mounted above a table so that only the top of the board is surfaced. A planer is self-feeding. After a piece of wood has been fed into it, it will continue through the machine by itself.
