Economics Graduation Celebration

Please plan on joining us as we return to an in-person graduation celebration!  Speakers will include our Department Chair and our 2022 Distinguished Alumnus.  We will also hear about our award recipients, honors students, and are excited to celebrate our PhD and Bachelors’ degree recipients. 

A Graduation Celebration program will be posted on our department website and handed out at the event. If you do not want your name printed in our event program, please email econadv@uw.edu as soon as possible so that we can accommodate your request.

Students who graduated in August 2021, December 2021, March 2022 or who have applied to graduate in June or August 2022 are eligible to participate.

Students can register to attend the Economics Department Graduation Celebration from May 4 – 22. An email will be sent to students eligible to register on May 4. Students wishing to participate in the UW Commencement Ceremony at Husky Stadium, must register at http://www.washington.edu/graduation.

For any students who want to be included in our celebration, you will need to:
Fill out Google registration form that will be emailed to you on May 4
Fill out our Registration/Order form https://www.washington.edu/graduation/registrationorder-form/ to order your cap and gown.

Tickets are not required for guests, however, we ask that the number of guests be kept to a reasonable number, around 6 per graduate. 

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, and we ask that guests arrive starting at 6pm.

Arrival: Students should arrive at 6pm to check in at the designated tables. Important: If you do not check in, your name will not be called during the processional.   When you check in, you will be given a name card.  Keep this card!  It will be used to call your name during the ceremony.

Seating: There will be reserved seating at the front, near the stage, for graduating students.  You can sit anywhere in this section and do not need to be in alphabetical order.  

Ceremony: The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30pm. Please be seated by this time. We expect the ceremony to last around 1.25 hours. 

Processional: Students will be escorted to the stage by row.  Please remain seated until your row is called to the front. Bring your name cared to the stage with you! You will hand your card to the person at the microphone who will call your name as you cross the stage.  Exit on the other side of the stage and return to your seat.  

Photos: We will have a photographer taking a photo of you as you cross the stage.  You will be able to download photos from our website within 1-2 weeks.  

Gifts and Certificates: Students who registered to attend may pick up their department gift and certificates in the designated tables after the event.
