If you wish to park on campus, parking permits will be required for this event. Students should purchase these permits for themselves and their guests through the Commencement Registration/Order Form, May 1st to May 19, 2024. Day of parking may be available for additional cost, but lot selection and availability are not guaranteed.

The festivities at Meany Hall will include:
- Pre-show for guests: graduating student slides, 6:00-7:00PM
- Formal procession of Faculty and Graduates, 7:00PM
- Chair's Welcome
- Department Undergraduate Awards
- Voices of Sociology (video presentation)
- Hooding of Ph.D. students
- Individual Recognition of all Graduates
- Recessional
- Post-event photo opportunities with Professors, Instructors, TAs, and fellow graduates in the Meany Lobby

The Sociology Graduation Celebration is a formal event and graduates are required to wear Caps & Gowns. Graduates order and pay for their academic apparel on the Commencement website, whether or not they intend to to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT STUDENTS PLACE THEIR ORDERS EARLY AND CHOOSE AN EARLY PICKUP DATE.
Ticket Information
Meany Hall has limited audience seating; if more graduates participate, the availability of guest tickets decreases. Paper tickets are required for all guests including young children. Babes in arms do not need tickets but toddlers do. Graduates do not need tickets. Only guests with tickets are admitted to Meany Hall. Lost tickets cannot be replaced.
Requests for tickets are made by graduates when they register for the Sociology Graduation Celebration. For the 2024 celebration students were able to request up to 8 tickets with NO GUARANTEE that 8 tickets would be issued. Tickets are free. Eligible students will receive an email from the Sociology Student Services team with information and an RSVP/Registration link on Wednesday May 1st, 2024.
The large UW Commencement ceremony can usually accommodate large family and friend groups.
