Event Comments:

Graduating Seniors from the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps, through the Department of Naval Science, will receive their Officer Commissions into the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps.

The Commissioning Ceremony is a sacred one, steeped in honor and tradition. The event represents the culmination of years of hard work and dedication and signifies the beginning of life as a military officer. Each commissioning consists of three parts. First, the Midshipman takes the oath of office. Next, the gold bars of an Ensign or Second Lieutenant is pinned on their shoulders by their family and loved ones. Then the new Ensign or Lieutenant receives their first salute.

This marks the 248th year of our Navy and Marine Corps legacy as well as 98 years of University of Washington graduates directly supporting the defense of the Constitution of the United States.

Seating is limited to 250 personnel total.
