The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) at the University of Washington/Fred Hutch (UW/Fred Hutch) Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) is thrilled to announce the inaugural Stephaun Elite Wallace Community Investigator Awards competition. The purpose of the Wallace Awards is to grow capacity for community-led HIV research by providing funding, mentoring, and educational support for community leaders, while facilitating connections and collaborations between community-based organizations (CBOs) and CFAR members.

The University of Washington/Fred Hutch Center for AIDS Research Directors reflect on the past 40+ years of the HIV response, and recommit our CFAR to a future of building community partnerships as we seek to improve the lives of people living with HIV.

Join us for our premier showcase on October 19th, 2023, co-hosted by the UW/FHCC CFAR and UW CFAS! This year’s event features a keynote presentation from Dr. Christopher Fairley, panels discussing Community Engagement and the Opioid Epidemic in King County, 6 Research Talks from UW award recipients, and an Early-Stage Investigator Poster Session.

We are deeply saddened to announce, along with our friends at the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN), the passing of Dr. Stephaun Elite Wallace, on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
