Madeline B. Deutsch, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Clinical Family and Community Medicine. She is the Director of Clinical Services at the UCSF Center of Excellence for Transgender Health, where she has been involved in numerous national and international clinical capacity building projects, oversees the development of the UCSF Primary Care Protocols for Transgender Care, and has studied the use of electronic medical records in transgender care. Dr. Deutsch is a Co-Principal Investigator on a recently awarded grant from the California HIV/AIDS Research Program to study HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in transgender populations. She is currently a Co-Investigator on a HRSA funded SPNS initiative examining linkage and retention in care of HIV+ transgender women of color, and a Co-Investigator on a PCORI funded study of sexual health and cervical cancer screening in transgender men. Dr. Deutsch is an Associate Editor for the journal LGBT Health and sits on the Editorial Board for the journal Transgender Health. Dr. Deutsch is certified as an HIV care expert by the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
