We are excited to announce that Ken Tapia, the Lead Biostatistician and Research Consultant for the UW\/Fred Hutch Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) Data Sciences and Methods Core, has been nominated for the 2024 Distinguished Staff Award!<\/em><\/p>\n

Ken has been with the UW for 24 years, and has played a pivotal role in advising researchers on study design, sample size calculations, statistical analysis plans, data management, and manuscript preparation, providing invaluable support throughout the entire research process. His expertise in statistical methods has made him the go-to person for supporting statistical aspects of research projects, especially for early-stage to mid-career faculty. He goes above and beyond by providing resources to make sure his mentees feel equipped for success.<\/em><\/p>\n

Beyond his technical expertise, Ken is known for his willingness to connect others to the resources they need. His commitment to training and development extends beyond our core staff\u2014he is always willing to share his knowledge with anyone who may benefit, and his influence positively impacts both research projects and team morale. His support has been critical to the success of many pilot project applicants by helping them navigate biostatistical aspects of their proposals and ensuring they receive the support they need both during and after the application process. His devotion to advancing scientific research, combined with his collaborative spirit and dedication to mentoring, has made him an exceptional team member.<\/em><\/p>\n

Last week, folks gathered at the HUB for the Distinguished Staff Award reception, where Ken\u2019s inspiring work, along with the other talented nominee\u2019s, was recognized.
