Dear DGH Colleagues,<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I am delighted to announce that Julie Dombrowski, MD, MPH<\/strong>, Associate Professor of Medicine, has been appointed the holder of the King K. Holmes Endowed Professorship in STD and AIDS<\/strong>. Named after Dr. King Holmes, professor of medicine and global health, and founding chair of the Department of Global Health, this 3-year rotating award recognizes and supports a faculty member with exceptional commitment to STD\/HIV research and training.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s recipient is an associate professor of medicine (Allergy and Infectious Diseases) and adjunct associate professor of epidemiology. She serves as the Deputy Director for the Public Health – Seattle & King County HIV\/STD Program and the Co-Director of the UW Public Health Capacity Building Center.\u00a0\u00a0 Her research on the HIV care continuum and patient engagement in HIV care has influenced public health practice in the U.S. and garnered national recognition.\u00a0 Her research interests also extend to important work on chlamydia in women and syphilis in men who have sex with men.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I also have the pleasure of announcing \u00a0that Alison Roxby, MD, MSc<\/strong>, Associate Professor of Global Health and Medicine, has been appointed the holder of the \u00a0Robert W. Anderson Endowed Chair<\/strong>.\u00a0 This professorship is made possible by the donation of Robert W. Anderson, PhD and his wife, Harriet. \u00a0This award provides support for HIV\/AIDS research and enhances the potential for UW HIV\/AIDS researchers to make important medical discoveries.\u00a0 It is a rotating 2-3 year award that supports the research career of a junior or mid-career faculty in the Department of Medicine.<\/p>\n

Both of these appointments to faculty in the Departments of Global Health and Medicine are prestigious recognitions of achievements and talents!\u00a0 We look forward to being able to celebrate them both in person in the future, and will look forward to an opportunity for them to tell us more about their work.<\/p>\n
