UPDATE ! AV300 : BACKUP BBO PROBE SHIMMED UP AND READY TO GO !

Dear All The ATMA probe has been sent for repairs and I immediately don’t know when it will return from the manufacturer.     In the meanwhile,  the Broad band BBO probe, which uses manual tuning/matching  in place of the automated system is now in the magnet. Although we are all rather used to the comfort of […]

UPDATE : DRX499 – SYSTEM IS BEHAVING (AGAIN !) NORMALLY

Dear DRX499 loyalists This time around, I think we have identified the operating system related issue and mitigated the same.   The system used to freeze up within a minute or two earlier but it is looking and behaving normally for about 20 minutes now, and that is a positive sign. The Best way to see […]

UPDATE ! DRX499 – SYSTEM IS USABLE NOW..

Dear DRX499 patrons The computer system froze couple of times and we have done our part in reviving the same.  As I write this,  the spectrometer is usable as before but we will be closely watching the behavior, since we haven’t fully identified what caused the system freezes.   So, if that happens again, feel free […]

ALERT ! NMR FACILITY SHUTDOWN DUE TO WATER EMERGENCY

Physical Plant is working on a water supply emergency that is confined to Bagley Hall.  The building Administrator has ordered the NMR facility to be closed until further notice.  So, you won’t be able to block NMR time until the situation returns to normal. I have tentatively blocked off the calendar to emphasize this point. […]

NOTE : INSTRUMENT LOGBOOK ISSUES

Hello NMR Users I recently learned of issues with posting messages in the instrument Log Books that is provided via a Web Page.   It is a strange ‘Catch 22’  situation where you could not have communicated the problem via a Log Book entry ! While we are looking into solutions after simulating the problems at […]

UPDATE – AV300 – PROBE TUNING ISSUES

There has been repeated reported reports, albeit only from a subset of users, that the ATMA probe tuning/matching is taking very long.   I want to first assure you that we are already working on possible ways to resolve this. Recap :  Historically all NMR probes were tuned/matched by hand and this is an important and […]

ALERT : NMR LAB TEMPERATURE ISSUES…BEING LOOKED INTO

Hello all You might have noticed that the NMR Lab i.e. Rm.37, Bagley was ‘generously warm’  today and in fact the thermostat was reading close to 86 F.  Over and above this high room temperature, we discovered that the control mechanism that keeps the room temperature from fluctuating wildly, is not functioning. The upshot: The […]

UPDATE ! AV500 – SYSTEM READY FOR USE

The 13C channel tuning problem has been fixed.   I would like to emphasize the following:  ” please be gentle with the tuning and matching knobs; do not use excessive force and try to turn them beyond their stop position, ever ! ” Along with this, we have also made sure that the 1H channel tuning […]
